Saturday 10th November - Hotel Ancon

Mark and Ros made it down to breakfast so said goodbye again. It was really sad saying goodbye, especially to Ros who had been a brilliant room mate and felt like a good friend after only having spent a week together.

At 8:45am the remaining 14 of us were supposed to meet to go on a catamaran trip. Unfortunately Nikki didn't make it as she was sick, but the rest of us went.

We sailed out into the calm sea for about an hour and a half before dropping some people off onto a desert island. The rest of us went back out on the boat to a coral reef to do some snorkling. We snorkled for the best part of an hour over a coral reef which was absolutely amazing. The reef was only about 2-3metres below the surface and the water was as clear as bath water so we got a fantastic view of all the incredible fish and corals. I saw brain corals, parrot fish, massive jellyfish, and some amazing small fish with electric blue spots all over them. Julia got stung by a jellyfish, but wasn't interested in anyone weeing on her for some reason!

We then went back to the desert island and had seafood paella and beer (or coke in my case), lounged around for a couple of hours and then got back on the catamaran to head back to the hotel. I had a lovely chat with Clare all the way back to the hotel.

I ate in the buffet restaurant with 6 of the group. The other seven ate in the seafood restaurant, then we all met up in the pool bar to spend our last evening with Ken before he leaves tomorrow morning. After being subjected to the most horrendous cabaret (think Carmen Miranda head-dresses and terrible magic acts) we all went and sat under the canopy just outside the bar so that the four girls from Belgium could read us their 'Cuban Revolution Rhyme' which they concocted earlier today. It was really great - a poem with a verse about every one of us on the trip. It was a great idea and brilliant poem. It was a fitting last night for Ken the saucy QC. I went to bed feeling very tired and contented.
